Rasing Money for Cancer Research

I am so proud of our son. When we asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday he said "hit the bricks" and raise money for cancer research. So here he is walking on the quad to raise money for the cancer center!

His sister "sissy" even got her own baton and did a few laps! She got scanned just like the college kids for every lap she did!

Really Charlie's b-day started with phone calls from Mamma and Coach, G-Ma and G-Dad singing Happy Birthday and then was followed by opening his first present....A new basketball goal from "sissy". He loved it and was quite upset when he had to leave it to take her to preschool....But he and I came back home and played all morning.

At 1:30 we went to pick up sissy from Karate and came back home to "rest". However, I guess you don't want to miss anything on your second b-day so after spending 1 1/2 hours in his crib playing instead of sleeping Charlie, Mary Alice and I went to visit Daddy at Wake for "hit the bricks". Daddy is one of two people who advise the student group that coordinates this event to raise around $20,000 for cancer research. We had a blast on campus! We listened to live music, played in the trees, walked around the quad, met the Wake Basketball players, the Wake Cheerleaders, ate Chick-fil-a and filled up on some Starbucks! Life does not get much better. You will have to check out our slide show to see all our pictures!

Then we came home, took a bath, had cake and opened presents! Man it is good to be 2!

I will leave you with some of my favorite pictures. Two are of Charlie at the Chapel on campus. I turned away for just 2 seconds and he found the luminaries lining the Chapel and thought it would be really fun to take the candles out of the bags and play with the sand. Luckily we did not get caught, and we were able to get everything back to looking good as new!

Lastly is my favorite picture of all....the kids LOVE playing on the quad. They always have..and it is one thing I really miss about living on campus. Here is a picture that just captures their love for each other! Charlie could not keep from hugging his "sissy".

Enjoy the slide show!

I wish I could have been with you to "Hit the Bricks". Some of my very favorite memories are when we went to the campus to play--are the swings still there in the big trees? I hope you were there at 5 pm when the chapel bells rang. Thank you for sharing your wonderful day with us with all the pictures. It helps to make us feel a part of your life. Hugs and kisses, Mamma and Coach

Love the pictures, LOVE the slide show. You are getting very blog-savvy! It seems like yesterday I came & saw Charlie in the hospital when he was just born! I wish I was there to celebrate. Hope he is getting some use out of his cow-print color holder. Miss you all!

Charlie,

We are so proud of you hitting the bricks to help other people. You are such a wonderful little boy with a big heart.

We loved the video of you, MA, mommy and daddy celebrating your second birthday. I am going to send the video to your great grandmother, great uncles and great aunts in Mobile. They love receiving pictures of you and MA.

I am counting down the days until I arrive in NC. We are going to have so much fun.

Love, G-MA
