Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! I hope each of you is having a wonderful day. Charlie and I are watching some TV this morning while the other members of our family are still in bed! It is a beautiful morning, I have the windows up and a cool breeze is coming into our den and we can hear all the birds chirping. What a beautiful sound! I have a cup of coffee, Charlie has a cup of milk and all is good!

Memorial Day is such a beautiful day. Charlie and I got out early this morning and made a run to the grocery and all the streets are lined with American flags. Every store has ribbons and bows of red, white and blue in their windows. I love seeing all the flags hanging on the houses of our street. (Excuse me for a minute while I get serious). As I see all the red, white and blue it makes me take a moment to remember all the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country. What a wonderful place we have to live and it is due to everyone who has given their life for us. I just want to take a moment to remember everyone who gave their life to make mine better.

Thank you.

Here are some pictures of my grandparents. My grandad is a Sergant Major and served in the Marine Corps for 30 years. He fought in WWII, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served in the Pacific for 4 years during WWII! Thank you Grandad for making our world a safer and better place to live.

And let's not forget my grandmother who took care of three children and a home while he was away. I have no idea how you did it! You are one special woman. I am still amazed at how you took care of Dad, Bill and Susan for 15 months while Grandad was serving in the Korean War.

I love you both and thank you for all you have done for our country.

Here are some pictures of them both at the Marine Corp Ball this past November. Grandad looks so good in his dress blues . And they both look great out on the dance floor!

On a lighter note, this week the kids had their Spring Program at school. It was an "All American" theme. They sang great American songs like Yankee Doodle Dandy and Take me out the Ball Game. Everyone dressed in red, white and blue and waved American flags. It was a beautiful sight and even brought a tear to my eye. Here are some pictures of the kids in red, white and blue.

After their program we kept with the All American theme and went to lunch at McDonald's! Yuummm.....you just can't beat their fries!

I hope you each have a wonderful day. We have a street parade and picnic to attend for lunch and then I head into work this afternoon.

Come back soon....I am trying to upload a video of the kids! Wish me luck!

Mary Alice and Charlie - love the picture of the two of you. What a great tribute to your GG-Dad and grandma Opal and to all who have served this country. We will show them the pictures tonight.
